Bar Envy

Pacific-Northwesterners love their beer. We champion and praise our micro-brews for their depth of flavors, array of styles, and  interesting adaptations. Yet we’ve been beaten to the punch and the Philadelphia Bar has taken the not so obvious pairing of legal work and beer to the next level:

Continuing legal education is a requirement of your profession, but that doesn’t mean you can’t mix business with pleasure. Now you can earn CLE credits while enjoying a cold one!

Continuing Lager Education is more than clever and a gimmick. Approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, seminars for credit last two-hours and then are followed by beer samplings and guidance from a beer expert. When it comes to the latter part of the education Philadelphia does not mess around:

Savor a range of brews with character that ranges from hoppy to sweet, delicate to strong. You’ll learn:

  • How beer is made
  • Inside local breweries and their beer
  • How to pair beer with food
  • Characteristics of different beer styles and flavors
  • Drinking for the season

Adopting an equal practice in Washington State could take some time. However, if LLOPS could set the example and demonstrate effective legal and local beer education it could make serious progress and have attorneys take note. Also of interest will be the overall turn-out in Philadelphia and if registration happens to sell-out.

Philippe – this is great! However did you learn of it? This type of programming is certainly needed in Phila, where most think a Yeungling Black and Tan is the answer to their beer quest.
