If you or your patrons use the Government Publishing Office’s Federal Digital System (FDsys), or if, as a law librarian, you care about permanent public access to digital government information (the law!), please read the message below and consider taking just a moment to send an email to your legislator via AALL’s  Legislative Action Center. It’s easy to do and very important!

The House Appropriations Committee is scheduled to markup the FY 2016 Legislative Branch bill this Thursday, April 30. In its draft bill, the committee eliminated all funding for the Government Publishing Office’s Revolving Fund, which provides the funds to make necessary improvements, enhancements, and content updates to FDsys.

Please contact your member of Congress today to express your support for full funding of GPO and, in particular, the need to fund continued improvements to their online information system through the Revolving Fund. A sample, customizable email message is available via AALL’s Legislative Action Center. Simply enter your home address, add your own personalization, and press send to deliver your message to your representative. It’s particularly important that your representative hear from you if s/he serves on the House Appropriations Committee. You can use our Directory to learn more about your legislators.
