Professional Development Workshop

The LLOPS Professional Development Committee has been hard at work and we’re planning a half-day program for March 13, 2015 titled Search and Connect: Librarian Essentials for Success. We have two great speakers lined up, Dan Russell of Google and public speaking coach Bryan Rutberg, so mark your calendar and stay tuned for more information.

Registration Costs:

Individual & Associate Members: $60
Student, Retired & Lifetime Members: $50
Non-Members: $75

LLOPS Holiday Party – members only!
Thursday, December 11th 5-8pm

The LLOPS Holiday Party will be Thursday, December 11th from 5-8pm at Tulio’s. This is a members-only event! You are welcome to bring a non-member guest. Current LLOPS members click here to RSVP via the Wild Apricot membership management site.

LLOPS will once again by collecting gift cards for Fisher House at the Holiday Party. Fisher House of Puget Sound is a local nonprofit that provides a “home away from home” for families of Veterans receiving care at VA Puget Sound Health Care System and families of active duty personnel who have loved ones in other area facilities. If you’d like to donate to Fisher House, please bring a $5 or $10 gift card (or more!) from grocery retailers such as Safeway, QFC, Fred Meyer or Target. AALL/LexisNexis Call for Papers

The “Call for Papers” has begun! Turn your great idea into an award winning paper for this prestigious competition. The AALL/LexisNexis Call for Papers Committee is soliciting unpublished papers in the following four divisions:

  1. Open: AALL members with 5 or more years of experience
  2. New Member: AALL members with less than 5 years of experience
  3. Short Form: All AALL members; Shorter-length articles
  4. Student: 2014-15 Law School or Library School students

Deadlines are:

  • March 2, 2015 for the Open, New Member, and Short Form Divisions
  • May 15, 2015 for the Student Division

Winners in the Open, New Member, and Student Divisions will each receive $650, and the Short Form Division winner will receive $300, all generously donated by LexisNexis.

Winners will also be invited to present their paper at the “Librarian as Author” program during the 2015 AALL Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. More details and requirements are on the AALL/LexisNexis Call for Papers Awards website. Contact Shawn Nevers, Chair, (neverss@law.byu.edu) with questions.
