Title: Happy Hour!
Location: Gordon Biersch
Link out: Click here
Description: Join the Social Committee this Wednesday, October 17th, for appetizers and beverages at Gordon Biersch from 4:30-6:00PM. Why Gordon Biersch you ask? Well, ‘tis the season for Oktoberfest Bier and pretzels so what better place to visit than a place that upholds the noble “German Beer Purity Law” known as Reinheitsgebot? (bonus points will be awarded to those who can spell this after one of their tasty Fest Biers).

As usual, LLOPS will spring for appetizers. Gordon Biersch boasts a full bar, happy hour menu and excellent people watching as it is located on the top floor of Pacific Place.

Time: 4:30-6:00 pm
Date: 2012-10-17

The LLOPS Social Committee is organizing a team to participate in this year’s King County Bar Association Fun Run & Walk. The event will be held on Sunday, March 6 at 9 a.m. at Seward Park in Seattle. Event proceeds support the KCBA Young Lawyers Division program including the Neighborhood Legal Clinics located throughout King County. It should be lots of fun!

If you’d like to be a part of the LLOPS team, please register and pay your entry fee. Event information and links for registering here.

Team name: LLOPS, Team Captain: Jennifer Hill

We’ll figure out logistics like a group meeting place and time as we get closer to March 6th. Please email Jennifer Hill (jhill@kellerrohrback.com) if you are going to participate so that we have an idea of how big our team will be.

I hope all walkers and runners will join us! Your friends, family, co-workers, etc. are also invited to join our team. The KCBA says even dogs are invited so yeah, bring your dogs too!

Social Committee Report

The Social Committee had a slow year but still managed to offer up some fun and entertainment. In March, we worked with the Program Committee and provided food and drinks for a social hour following Pat Wagner’s presentation: Good, Cheap and Fast or, Perfect, Free and Instantly: Understanding the “Iron” Triangle , held at K&L Gates. Later in the month, we sponsored happy hour in honor of our AALL visitor, Catherine Lemann, AALL President (2009-10) and Alaska State Law Librarian. We had a great time at the top of the Columbia Tower in the Stratus Lounge at the Columbia Tower Club. Crystal Sherman Norton once again hooked us up with access and a reservation, and we had some good food, good drinks and enjoyed great views and conversation. In April, we sponsored happy hour at Red Fin at the Hotel Max after the Professional Development Workshop. We had a full table which included several UW Law Librarianship students and we shared plenty of delicious appetizers.

That was as social as we got for the year. We spent $227 which was well under the budget, but we didn’t schedule very many activities. Our goal for 2010-11 is to be more active and provide some good fun for LLOPS. Please feel free to send any ideas or suggestions for social events to Jennifer Hill, next year’s Chair. Better yet, why not join the committee?

Respectfully submitted,

Jennifer Hill and Laurel Evans, LLOPS Social Committee Co-Chairs
