Do you like to open mystery boxes? This job is for you! The remainder of the Heller Ehrman library is stored in boxes on floor 62 of the BOAT. We’d like to inventory the boxes, create a list from that inventory, and donate the books to our County Law Libraries or Public Defender offices around the state. Please contact Jill Allyn if you are interested in volunteering to assist with the inventory.

Don’t forget to bring your gift cards to the LLOPS Holiday Party tomorrow from 5-7pm at Tulios! The beneficiary of the LLOPS Gift Card Drive at the Holiday Party will be Fisher House of Puget Sound, a local non-profit that provides a “home away from home” for families of Veterans receiving care at VA Puget Sound Health Care System and families of active duty personnel who have loved ones in other area facilities. If you’d like to donate to Fisher House, please bring a $5 or $10 gift card from grocery retailers such as Safeway, QFC, Fred Meyer or Target.  If you have any questions, please email Rick Stroup.

The King County Law Library is offering a new two-part class to provide training on how to use the King County Superior Court’s E-Filing system. There will be two 45-minute sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays beginning December 2nd. Part One will cover how to navigate around the E-Filing site, how to set up an account, how to begin a new case and related topics. Part Two will go over how to add files to an existing case, technical issues concerning document preparation, and other troubleshooting topics. Following each 45-minute session, there will be 15 minutes for optional hands-on practice and questions.

The class is free of charge. Due to limited seating, pre-registration is required. All class sessions will be held in the Legal Research and Training Center in the Seattle library on the sixth floor of the King County Courthouse at 516 3rd Avenue, Suite W621. Once again, the LLOPS Outreach Committee will be supporting a local charity by collecting gift cards at our holiday party on December 10. We are gathering information about charity programs right now and would like your help. Last year’s recipient was Family Services and our members donated over $500 in assorted gift cards. If you would like to nominate a particular charity, please send their name and web site address to Rick Stroup by November 9. Ideally, it should be a charity that accepts donations of generic gift cards, like the ones you can buy over the counter at Safeway or QFC, but the Committee will consider all suggestions.
