Save the date for the LLOPS Professional Development Conference: Innovate, Inform, Ideas. This year’s conference will be held on Tuesday, April 17 at the University of Washington. A brief description of the agenda is below with more details including registration information to come out soon.

Innovate: From Gwyn McAlpine, Director of Knowledge Management Services at Perkins Coie LLP, who will address Unconventional R&D. “Law firms want to innovate but it requires creative thinking and a tolerance of failure that their organizations may not have the stomach or bandwidth for.  As a way to test out ideas and solutions with low investment, some firms are experimenting with alternate forums, such as student projects and hackathons.  Hear about one firm’s partnership with a law school that is resulting in prototype automation projects for the firm and a unique educational opportunity for students.”

Inform: Lisa Marshall Manheim is an Associate Professor at the University of Washington School of Law and co-author of The Limits of Presidential Power: A Citizen’s Guide to the Law. She will be speaking to us about this book.

Ideas: Discussion group breakout session.

The program will be followed by an offsite happy hour, planned by the Social Committee.

We hope to see you there!

Amy Eaton & Jessica King, your 2018 Professional Development Committee
